Transmission Engineer – Atlanta, GA
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Engineer to join our growing team in Atlanta, GA. The successful
candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and project management of overhead transmission line
projects. This role involves technical collaboration, client interaction, and occasional field travel.
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze overhead transmission lines, ensuring proper clearances and structure placements
using tools such as PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, as well as hand calculations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technicians, and clients.
Lead individual projects and coordinate small project teams.
Prepare material lists, construction bid packages, and assist in cost estimation.
Conduct site visits for design data collection, system assessments, and support to construction crews.
Apply and remain current on relevant codes and standards (e.g., NESC, RUS, ASCE).
Review, stamp, and prepare engineering documents and construction drawings.
Develop project proposals including scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.
Maintain and grow strong client relationships.
Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and internal service capabilities.
Identify cross-discipline service opportunities to align with client needs.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
5+ years of experience in electric utility transmission line design.
EIT certification required; P.E. license preferred or the intent to obtain.
Familiarity with foundation design concepts and tools such as MFAD and LPILE is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 30% annually and work extended hours as needed.
