Job Summary
The Senior Production Manager will oversee a large production organization within a well-run continuous chemicals manufacturing or refining operation. The role has significant operational, financial, and strategic responsibility, including leadership of approximately 85 employees, a $50MM+ OPEX budget, and a five-year strategic plan. The successful candidate will own the plant asset and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations while developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee approximately 85 employees with 5–7 direct reports.
• Own operational performance and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
• Manage a $50MM+ operating expense (OPEX) budget.
• Develop and execute a five-year strategic plan.
• Develop, coach, and maintain a high-performing production and operations team.
• Partner with plant leadership and functional teams to maintain operational excellence.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance in a PSM-regulated manufacturing environment.
• Provide stable, consistent operational leadership for the unit.
• Identify opportunities for future development and potential movement across business units.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering highly preferred; other engineering degrees may be considered with relevant experience.
• 10+ years of overall industry experience in continuous chemicals manufacturing or petroleum refining.
• PSM-regulated manufacturing experience is a MUST.
• 3+ years of experience managing a production or operations team.
• Previous union-plant experience is a major plus.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong leadership, team development, and interpersonal skills.
