Job Summary
The Senior Design Engineer will collaborate with a team of up to 10 Design Engineers to design mechanical products and systems, ensuring the final product meets customer needs and expectations.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and execute engineering projects by analyzing customer requirements, market demand, and competitor products.
• Evaluate mechanical systems by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials.
• Confirm system capabilities through feasibility design and testing methods.
• Develop mechanical products by researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods.
• Improve manufacturing processes focusing on cost reduction and efficiency.
• Ensure product quality through testing and validation processes.
• Prepare detailed product reports by analyzing data and trends.
• Provide engineering support by responding to technical queries.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and standards.
• Maintain system and product databases, including programming and data entry.
• Stay updated with industry knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
• Support team objectives and contribute to overall project success.
Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a senior engineering role.
• Experience in heavy haul trailer engineering is a plus.
• Experience in heavy equipment engineering is a plus.
• Advanced computer and technical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and design software systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and technical skills with understanding of business practices.
• Functional knowledge of cost accounting.
• Ability to drive innovation and implement lean enterprise principles.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems.
