Our client seeks an experienced Financial Controller to manage the financial health, compliance, and
operations of an engineering services firm. This role will oversee daily accounting, financial reporting,
budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls, while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive growth,
optimize project financials, and mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial
leadership within project-based or service-based industries, with strong technical and strategic expertise. Ideal
candidate would be from the engineering outsourcing industry.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
Develop and refine financial models for projects and
programs, prepare forecasts, and analyze financial plans and budgets for global engineering and life
sciences practices.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
statements, analyze performance against budget/forecast, and present data to senior management and
stakeholders.
Operations Management: Lead daily financial operations, manage cash flow, supervise accounts
payable/receivable, ensure accurate costing for engineering projects, and maintain ERP financial
systems.
Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure
compliance with government reporting, tax filings, and other financial regulations.
Strategic Partnership: Serve as a financial business partner to engineering and life sciences delivery
teams, providing insights and guidance to support strategic objectives.
Business Support: Collaborate with Sales and Delivery teams on bids and RFP responses, conduct
market and customer analysis, and contribute to risk management strategies.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the finance and accounting team, ensuring timely delivery of
analysis and fostering a high-performance environment.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or equivalent professional
designation strongly preferred.
Experience: Proven track record as a Financial Controller or in a senior financial leadership role,
preferably in project-based or service-oriented industries.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles
Strong financial reporting and analysis capabilities
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Proficiency with ERP/accounting software and financial systems
Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; leadership ability with
integrity and attention to detail; collaborative mindset for working across teams.
