Position Overview

A leading aerospace and defense organization is seeking a Principal Supply Chain Manager to lead Space and Airborne Systems supply chain program management for a key program. This role partners closely with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and supplier teams to drive program execution, alignment with commodity strategies, supply base optimization, and lowest total acquisition cost.
The successful candidate will be a highly experienced supply chain professional capable of using hands-on, cross-functional approaches to identify pain points, drive process improvements, manage supplier performance, and deliver best-in-class supply chain processes and efficiencies.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Lead Space and Airborne Systems supply chain program management in partnership with Engineering, Program Management, and Operations.
• Drive program execution, alignment with commodity strategies, supply base optimization, and lowest total acquisition cost.
• Use hands-on, cross-functional approaches to identify supply chain pain points and implement sustainable improvements.
• Work with functional and program leaders to track and coordinate program deliverables.
• Identify key program risks and develop mitigation plans, including long-term supply chain risk mitigation.
• Provide regular reports and updates on program status, risks, and mitigation activities.
• Manage critical milestones and project requirements, including supplier capacity and capability analysis.
• Ensure suppliers can consistently provide required parts and materials while optimizing material flow, line fill, and inventory.
• Provide technical support for DFx activities, including manufacturability, assembly, and test considerations.
• Review engineering changes and assess materials and supply chain impacts.
• Drive process improvements that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of product development and supply chain processes.
• Manage supplier relationships and supplier performance to achieve program and customer requirements.
• Interface with suppliers to ensure appropriate support and execution of deliverables.
• Influence diverse teams across Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Program Management, and supplier organizations.
• Develop, drive, and track supply chain management metrics customized to Space programs.
• Serve as a high-level relationship manager, recognized thought leader, and trusted partner.
• Periodically travel to supplier facilities, primarily domestic locations, as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
• OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• OR, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
• Mastery-level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas.
• Recognized as an expert and resource within the field by peers inside and outside the organization.
• Strong supply chain program management expertise in complex technical or highly regulated environments.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
