This company, a developer of much-needed power technology, is looking for a Sr. Motor Control Engineer to work on high-speed permanent magnet machines.

Company Information

While this company has the energy and innovative culture of a start-up, it’s an established, profitable company developing power technology for multiple industries, including aerospace, defense, and industrial technologies. 2025 was a very successful year, and 2026 is looking even better. They offer a hard-to-find mix of stability, growth, and the ability to make a difference in industry-changing technology.

Position Description

In this role, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of controls development for power electronics and motor drive applications. The focus is on algorithm-level development (modeling and simulation) using Matlab and Simulink, including auto-coding and tuning of the code (C/C++). It’s an ideal role for someone looking to work in classical control theory, leveraging both firmware and algorithm development.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with the system design and firmware teams to integrate control algorithms into the system.
  • Develop reusable device drivers and application libraries with the firmware team.
  • Develop test plans, perform validation tests, and ensure compliance.
  • Testing, tuning, and troubleshooting of existing and new motors/generators and power electronics controllers.
  • Lead HiL/MiL set up and simulation environments.
  • Assist with part selection, board, and product design.

Qualifications

  • MSEE or MSCE with 5+ years of experience in motor control development, including both classical and advanced control system theory.
  • Strong background in model-based development (Matlab and Simulink) of control algorithms, along with auto-coding.
  • Solid background with firmware at the code-level (C/C++).
  • Experience with HiL and MiL setup and testing is preferred.
  • Experience with high-speed motor controls is a plus.
  • Solid communication skills.
