Job Description:

SUMMARY
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of standard costs, operational variance
analysis, margin analysis, new product costing, & adherence of the organization’s accounting policy and
procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owner of all aspects of standard costing and reporting.
  • Significant responsibility in the company’s general ledger close processes, including, but not
    limited to the preparation of required journal entries, variance and margin analysis, GL
    reconciliations and supporting schedules, and financial analysis providing COGS trends &
    explanations.
  • Analyzes inventory transactions and owns monthly reconciliation of sub ledger detail to general
    ledger.
  • Key member in annual cost update process. Analyze and communicate throughput, material,
    labor, and overhead rate changes, as well as standard/actual costs. Responsible for annual COGS
    budget & maintaining costing policy.
  • Responsible for operational variance reporting & analysis. This includes validating key variance
    accounts & providing analysis on what is driving the variance. Establishing and maintaining
    variance capitalization method and process for variance accounts.
  • Leading Frontier’s pricing reviews to ensure pricing changes reflect reliable cost changes.
  • Owner of reviewing new product NPV’s for accuracy & pay back analysis.
  • Responsible for margin analysis given to marketing & management to review product
    rationalization.
  • Provides timely historical financial results and analysis to support business decisions.
  • Report and track weekly/monthly KPIs and recommend improvements suggestions. This includes
    reporting on cost savings initiatives, budget comparisons, and other key metrics as defined.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external audit requirements.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and requests as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when
    practical.
  • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.

    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar from a four-year college or university
  • 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment or
    equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid GAAP experience; prior experience performing month end close responsibilities and
    analysis of the various financial statement accounts.
  • Prior experience with standard costing and variance reporting.
  • Able to analyze account and/or cost variances and provide meaningful explanations to
    management.
  • Experience using an ERP accounting systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft software, proficiency at intermediate to advanced Excel e.g. pivot
    tables, formulas and sorting/filtering features.
  • Analytical, self-motivated, able to work alone or within a team in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to analyze processes and implement continuous improvement ideas through informal
    leadership
  • Ability to multi-task, remain organized and prioritize work while meeting deadlines.
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy. Ability to problem solve and apply judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently, possess ingenuity and have strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work cross functional is key to be successful in this position, specifically creating a
    working & respectful relationship with operations.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without Visa Sponsorship.
