Job Description:

The Product Engineer supports improving safety in manufacturing of current products, support existing
products for ease of manufacture, implement quality improvements and execute customer requested
design revisions.

  • Develop and administer Engineering Changes associated with complex welded steel structures,
    sheet metal components, non – metallic components (interior and exterior), HVAC systems,
    mechanical components and systems, electronics/wire harnesses and other areas.
  • Support development and implementation of design changes for existing products.
  • Translate end – customer functional requirements into product specifications.
  • Support the development and maintenance for configuration of products.
  • T ranslate of internal and external customer requests and requirements into engineering change
    request.
  • Create and modification of 3D model geometries.
  • Complete component evaluation and selection.
  • Complete model checks for interference, parameters and external references.
  • Maintain accurate Bills of Materials for design changes.
  • W ork in collaboration and support with Cost Estimating, Purchasing, Planning, Sales,
    Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Engineering.
  • Conduct design review activities ensuring that robust technical development processes and
    methodologies are implemented on products post – launch.
  • Develop design solutions and manufacturing solutions based on an understanding of internal
    and external manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Conduct product design revision implementation and incorporate facility feedback of design
    revision execution to optimize cost and quality. ​
  • Collaborate with Global Engineering team to solve product performance challenges
  • Provide concise and effective technical guidance and communication to internal and external
    customers.
  • Serve as a customer – facing liaison to resolve current production design – based issues, accurately
    define and deliver on customer requested production improvements and changes.
  • Collaborate with Company stakeholders to develop/improve process/system performance
    challenges.
  • Maintenance and or Continuous improvement of key Engineering Change Processes and Systems
    design updates through feedback, data access and metrics.
  • Project Management and execution of process and systems design of cross – functional systems
    and processes.
  • Project management of complex model year change programs and/or projects as assigned.
    Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related
    field.
  • 5 – 10+years steel structure, sheet metal part design, welded component assembly experience.
  • 3D modeling experience (Creo, Solidworks, Etc).
  • Desi gn for Manufacturability: 5 – 10 years of experience in complex product environments.
  • Strong understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements.
