Role Overview:
As the Capital Project Engineer, you will lead the site’s engineering strategy and execution, overseeing
capital projects, facility operations, and team development. You’ll work cross-functionally with HR,
Finance, R&D, Operations, and Corporate Engineering to ensure the plant’s infrastructure, systems, and
processes meet current and future business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
Collaborate with HR and the Consumer Division Engineering team to define and fulfill
staffing and resource requirements.
Manage and coach the plant engineering team, focusing on talent development and
performance management.
Capital Project & Budget Management:
Own the plant’s capital budget, including forecasting, tracking, and managing capital
expenditures.
Develop and maintain the plant’s 5-Year Capital Plan in alignment with division-wide
masterplans.
Project Execution & Initiative Management:
Lead the plant’s Initiative Management (IM) Pillar, ensuring effective use of IM tools
and methodologies.
Ensure efficient execution of capital and expense projects, adherence to purchasing
standards, and data-driven improvement initiatives.
Oversee successful project start-ups using IM tools, including Factory Acceptance
Testing (FAT) and commissioning protocols.
Product & Process Innovation:
Partner with R&D during new product development to support process transformation
and equipment selection.
Provide engineering feedback and ensure initiatives are technically feasible and scalable.
Facilities & Compliance Oversight:
Manage facilities and utilities systems, ensuring operational reliability and compliance
Maintain property records, manage permitting documentation, and oversee structural and
systems improvements.
Lead the site’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP) related to facilities, utilities, and
equipment.
Technical Safety & Sustainability:
Own and develop key technical safety programs including Process Safety, Combustible
Dust, Fire Safety, and Electrical Compliance.
Work closely with the Plant HS&E Leader to ensure environmental and safety
requirements are met.
Collaborate with Sustainability Leaders to drive initiatives in energy, water, and waste
reduction.
Cross-Functional Contribution:
Support broader plant improvement efforts related to Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity,
Delivery, Organizational Development, and Sustainability.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
7+ years of engineering experience
5+ years in a manufacturing environment
Proven experience managing large, complex teams
Capital project and cost center management experience
Strategic and operational leadership capabilities
Flexible and adaptable work schedule
Experience in one or more technical areas: process/manufacturing equipment, packaging systems,
electrical or controls engineering, facilities, or plant construction/start-up
Demonstrated success in creating high-performance work cultures and systems
Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively collaborate across departments and leadership
levels
